What we do

Care financing and home equity guidance

What pays for care, in the order families usually use it, and where home equity fits without creating a payment nobody can carry.

The order most families follow

Income and savings come first. Then benefits: VA aid and attendance, long term care insurance, and any pension or annuity already in place. Then home equity. Then family help.

Going out of order is how households end up paying interest on money they did not need to borrow, or selling an asset they could have kept.

Home equity, with the right timing

For a home with little or no mortgage left, equity can fund care without a monthly payment. That works when the plan for the house is settled. Borrowing against a home you intend to sell in six months costs money for nothing.

Bring in the professional before the decision, not after

A financing review is a conversation with someone licensed to give it, not a pitch. The point is to put two or three routes side by side, on paper, with the real numbers, while there is still time to choose between them.

What this includes

  • The payment routes families actually use, in order
  • Where home equity helps and where it costs money for nothing
  • An introduction to a licensed professional, when it is time

Where to go next

Talk it through with someone local

A short conversation is usually enough to work out which of these applies to your situation, and what to do first.
