I have been an attorney for over 25 years, and have covered a broad range of practice areas. For 10 years I helped run and grow a non-profit organization called San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation (SLOLAF). At SLOLAF, I had the privilege of working with hundreds of senior citizens who could not afford a private attorney but needed to plan for incapacity and wanted to be sure their wishes were honored after their passing. I provided presentations on the importance of planning for incapacity around the community and encouraged every adult, regardless of their means or situation, to start doing advance planning to protect their assets and their wishes. I also handled many elder abuse cases at SLOLAF and saw first-hand the consequence of a lack of planning. In 2023, after 10 years with SLOLAF, I accepted a position on Carmel & Naccasha’s Trusts and Estates team where I am able to provide full scope representation for clients in this area. All adults need to have an estate plan customized to their needs and values. I get great satisfaction with helping my clients avoid the multitude of problems and tragedies I witnessed when helping clients who did not plan.
